A letter from Mr Bell
Let me begin this letter by welcoming you and your child to Warren Junior School.
As you will be aware Warren Junior School is in the same Hard Federation as Furze Infant School as we share the same Governing Body. This relationship between the two schools has never been more important than it is right now. Working in collaboration with Furze Infant School, the staff at Warren Junior have been able to comprehensively adapt our transfer arrangements for children entering Year 3 in September, to ensure all required information for individual pupils has been shared. This means that when your child starts Warren Junior School in September their new teacher will be as well informed as possible about both your child’s academic and pastoral needs.
I would like to inform you that teachers and school leaders from both schools have been in regular contact since early 2021 and all the teachers who will be working in Year 3 next year are visiting Furze and their class before the end of term.
Due to the current guidance on social distancing, we will not be able to permit either parents to visit or be able to facilitate large transfer visits. For this reason, we have created an area on the Warren Junior Website that gives a significant amount of information to support the transition of your child to Warren Junior.
Within the website (https://warrenjunior.schooljotter2.com/home) you will find a tab labelled “Information for new Year 3 parents”. Within this are you will find the following information:
- A copy of this letter
- The class name and teacher that your child will be in when they start in September
- A virtual tour of the school
- A welcoming letter from the class teacher
- The Warren Junior School Prospectus
- The Warren Junior School Prospectus appendices
- The Home School Agreement
- A PowerPoint presentation with lots of information you will need as well as photos of key areas and staff
- A PDF downloadable version of the PowerPoint presentation
- Information on the Inclusion Support Group
I would like to advise you that although the Warren Junior School website can be accessed by phone and mobile devices, it is best viewed in the desktop format.
Please check the school website on a regular basis as any updates regarding September and the transition arrangements will be posted within this area.
Warren Junior School will reopen for the Autumn Term on Thursday 2nd September. To ensure your child has the smoothest possible first day each class will start at a different time on the first day only.
3H will start at 9.30am
3J will start at 9.45am
3K will start at 10.00am
3A will start at 10.15am
3P will start at 10.30am
Throughout this pandemic both Warren Junior School and Furze Infant School have adhered to every piece of guidance from the Department for Education, Public Health England and London Borough of Barking and Dagenham. If there are any updates for the ways schools can operate in September, I will write to you at the soonest possible opportunity. As you know the current guidance requires schools to keep children in bubbles and to facilitate staggered start and finish times to minimise possible transmission. I will confirm the start and finish times for September as soon as the school receives guidance on this matter.
I would also like to take this opportunity to highlight that all teachers are aware that the education of all children over the past year has been significantly different to the one they would have received if there had not been the Covid19 pandemic. As we welcome your child all teachers will assess both their academic and pastoral needs and respond appropriately. This may require adapting the curriculum in individual year groups and all staff are ready to make the required adjustments. Your child will be supported both academically and emotionally when they join Warren Junior School.
Warren Junior has already received all required information from Furze Infant School for your child to start school in September, however your child will come home with a welcome pack on their first day which will include the admissions form. I would be grateful if you could return this form fully completed the next day. If you have any questions about the transfer of your child please do not hesitate to contact the school office on 020 8270 4680.
Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your family well and I hope that you and all of your loved ones have been able to and continue to stay safe during these challenging times. I wish you all a wonderful summer and look forward to meeting you and your children in September.
